Church Ministries

/// The ministries available at First Apostolic Church are:

I. MINISTERIAL STAFF:

This ministry is comprised of Ministers and Evangelists who are members of this assembly and in good standing, faithful in attendance, and supportive of the church and ministry through tithes and offerings. Ministers must be: spiritually called of God, willing and able to teach, courageous, diligent, faithful, impartial, meek, obedient, prayerful, sincere, spirit-filled, studious, sympathetic, temperate, and worthy of imitation.

Responsibilities include: Relating and communicating honestly with functions and phrases of church group and activities; giving faithfully in tithes; attending all meetings and activities requested by the Pastor and or Overseer; keeping the Pastor informed (before-hand when possible) of all activities within the church and of any church related activities administered or participated in and outside of the church facilities; and serving, if requested, as an emissary of the pastor; Included in the Minister’s Alliance group are the following:

A. Altar Workers: The responsibilities of altar workers include greeting and assisting candidates upon their acceptance of Jesus Christ as their personal Savior; praying with candidates; instructing candidates in the procedure and method of baptism and receiving of the Holy Ghost; counseling with candidates in the purpose of the action being taken.
B. Intercessory Prayer Group: As the name implies, this group of ministers intercedes in prayer to God for the leadership, ministry, saints, and others.

II. MEN’S MINISTRY:

This ministry seeks to minister to the needs, growth, and spiritual development of the total man. It offers many areas of interest for all ages. “Men portraying God’s image” is the theme of the men of FAC. The Men’s Image Class was formed to help assist and promote Godly leadership, unity, temperance, and wisdom. The following responsibilities are also administered: a training facility for Deacon candidates; and maintaining the church and its properties, and train and teach the young men and boys the procedures and responsibilities of the Church.

III. MUSIC MINISTRY:

This ministry began in August 1984 shortly after the church’s inception. Since that time the music ministry has been thriving and growing. It has proven to be an asset and a blessing to the overall ministry. The music ministry encompasses all facets of music including:

  • Praise and Worship Leaders-lead song services for all services
  • Sanctuary Choir- Sing and ministers during Sunday morning and evening worship service, revival, and travel with the Pastor.
  • Youth Choir-Sings during special concert and some Sunday services
  • Children’s Choir- Sings during special youth services and events
  • MGM Mass Choir-Sings during special MGM events (i.e. Feast of Pentecost)

Participation in any part of the music ministry requires dedication, consecration, and faithfulness to all services, rehearsal, and especially weekly bible study.

IV. CARE MINISTRY:

This ministry’s function is the support unit of love in the church and community at worship services and other church functions. If you are an individual who enjoys giving of yourself to help others (even those who are unable to attend worship services), the Care Ministry has a place for you. This ministry is comprised of the following auxiliaries:

A. Nurses Guild: They are professional and non-professional women trained in the field of nursing. They assist the pastor by providing the necessary medical needs to the general congregation, and serves the pastor, guests, and speakers with necessary materials (water and/or juice, handkerchiefs, mints, or breath fresheners).
B. Pastor’s Aide: They pay exclusive attention to the Pastor and first family’s special needs. By making special preparation to support the pastor with whatever necessary materials and or finances needed for travel and local use.
C. Usher’s Board: Individuals that performs the functions of seating congregants for worship services as well as distributes fans, bulletins, tithe and offering envelopes, and any other materials for distribution. They also direct congregation during offering and assist in the upkeep of the sanctuary.
D. Hospitality: Members of this ministry are usually the first people you will meet at FAC functions including but not limited to receiving and greeting all guests and members with love and distributing visitor cards to any first time visitors.
E. Convalescent Care: This ministry reaches out extending love and concern not only to the members of FAC but to their families and friends and even strangers. Regular visits are made to convalescent homes, hospitals, and homes of sick and shut-in. Members of this ministry understand that they may be called upon at any time.

V. WOMEN’S MINISTRY:

This ministry seeks to minister to the total needs and cares of all the women of FAC. The Women’s Ministry serves as a viable and supportive force in the church. Its members serve in almost every facet of the church and ministry.

Mother’s Board: The Mother’s board is a group of older sisters selected by the Pastor. Their functions are to support the Pastor in special prayer, provide leadership to younger mothers and ladies of FAC, organize and provide special meals and buffets, and assist in communion.

VI. TAPE/RADIO MINISTRY:

This department functions to record and edit all services, seminars, and special events for possible use by other ministries, sale, or release for radio broadcast. The department is directed by appointed technicians. This ministry is also a means to spread the gospel of Christ to those who are unable, for various reasons, to physically come out and be a part of the worship service. It is also a means whereby the child of God can sit quietly alone and reflect on what he has heard and totally digest the word of God. The goal is to service God’s people through all means possible that they may receive salvation, continue to be strong, uplift, and encourage individuals to stay with God.

VII. FOLLOW-UP MINISTRY:

This ministry is a support ministry to the Pastor and ministerial staff. Its functions include welcoming new converts and maintaining contact with new members of FAC via mail, phone, or home visits. This ministry is also responsible for the Church Bulletin in which they keep the church family and visitors informed and up to date on up-coming events and the exciting things Christ is doing within His body.

VIII. YOUTH MINISTRY:

This ministry is also a viable and important part of the church. Every family is involved in some way because we all have children or grandchildren, etc. This ministry seeks to foster activities that services and train to prepare our church of today and tomorrow with spiritually grounded adults and further the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ to generation after generation throughout the earth. Monthly and biweekly children’s church services are held to train and teach the young the Word of God and the operation of the church. Carefully selected youth leaders are chosen to involve the young people in church functions; and they also serve as model for young people. People interested in working within this ministry must be patient, enjoy working with young people, and be worthy of emulation.

IX. CHRISTIAN EDUCATION:

This department’s function is to assist in the training and spiritual growth development of all congregants of FAC. The classes offered are: New Member Training, School of Prophets, Summer Tutoring Camp for children, and various special seminars offered from time to time. The Church School is also a part of the Christian Education Department. Classes are offered for all ages beginning at 9:00 a.m. each Sunday. Additionally, the Christian Education Department has introduced a Bible Study Course that will allow you to obtain college degrees in biblical studies through the School of Prophet Course.
